Members of Congress are living off food stamps for a week to protest Republican cuts. It’s a challenge for them, but GOP cuts would hurt millions of everyday Americans

Why does this not have more publicity. This needs it!

Signal boosting this A) because it deserves to be seen by more people, and b) because I appreciate some members of Congress are actually willing to see what it’s like living on food stamps in order to make their point about how horrifying cutting food stamps would be.

News flash, regressives: people on food stamps do not load up on Snickers bars and filet mignon. They’re limited in what they can buy, and oftentimes, it’s not enough to get by on. Go on thinking these are entitlements that let minorities live lives of luxury, comfortable in the knowledge that you’ll never go hungry.

You privileged, elitist pricks.

Huh! How about that!

I really related to this lovely response by BelleChere, and I wanted to share it with y’all because I know she and I are not the only ones who feel this way. Hope she doesn’t mind. <3

My thicker thighed sisters PREACH IT! That’s usually the main thing people like to point out or ridicule me for.

I adore all three of you ladies for a multitude of reasons, the main one being how you always take a stand and allow your voice to be heard. Regardless of what society deems as “beautiful’, which is absolutely absurd in my opinion, you three are beyond amazing (as are many of the women I know like you), your easy going personalities—from what I’ve seen and heard from mutual friends— make you beautiful. Your lovely curves only add to it. I look forward to running into you in the near future at a con.

Wow, thank you. That just made my night. :)

Adult Swim making an unholy amount of sense.

*cough* Yes, BUT… “The film industry” has a lot of… tentacles, if you will. And piracy is contributing to… a sushi chef with a big knife cutting off more and more of some of those tentacles while leaving only a couple intact.

While piracy may not make a dent in the take of the huge summer blockbuster, it can mean that the indie film doesn’t make any money because people download it instead of paying for it. When the unusual or artistic film doesn’t make any money, the NEXT unusual or artistic film will not get made at all because everything comes down to the box office numbers. And the beautiful variety of the industry, its willingness to take chances and try new things, is suffering heavily for that. (This is why television is thriving at the moment, instead.)

Think of the octopus. Think how beautiful it is when it has a variety of tentacles and not just one or two.

Among those messages were several I did not post, detailing the facts: I was worthless, fat and a terrible Dinah, both in RP and in cosplay.

Somehow, word got out on Twitter.

And my hero/inspiration of cosplay sent me a message.

image

Which was awesome, but I was still feeling kind of yucky.

All of a sudden, shit blew up and it was like kfjhgkjdfhkjf

And people started showing their support

image

// I’m up to like, 25 inbox messages, and I didn’t even COUNT the twitter interactions..

Even Gail Simone thinks people should stop their shit.

image

So, you know what? Call me a terrible RPer and a terrible cosplayer. I’m pretty sure I know who’s been sending that shit anyway. And you know what? No matter who you are, I actually feel sorry for you. I have friends, and support, and great tits. And all you have is your loneliness and the prospect of sending anon hate to make yourself feel better. And that’s pretty sad.

To everyone— thank you so much. Especially Chris Jones, Hal, Gail Simone, and Roxanna Meta. You’re amazing.

No, you. :)

so this commercial is being taken down and off of tv after Cheerios got complaints from people about how this commercial is promoting bi-racial families. as a child coming from a bi-racial family i’m actually astonished and disgusted. it’s 20 fucking 13 people, get a grip.

Wait what

What then can we all just spread this around online cause it’s pretty damn cute

So we can have 3,000 Victoria Secret commercials with obnoxiously sexualized women prancing around in their underwear but an adorable, wholesome commercial featuring a bi-racial family has to be taken down? Jesus sometimes I really hate living in this fucking country.

I nearly started crying from happiness when I saw this commercial. Because I am from a bi-racial family and you NEVER see that represented EVER. And when it is, it is hardly happy or healthy like this family here. But for people to COMPLAIN as if promoting bi-racial families is some sort of sin or grossly offensive way of life… that absolutely crushes me. It tells me that it doesn’t matter how far we advance or how many rights we get (And this can bleed over into LGBQT rights and on now). There is still a large majority of people who will never accept change. Who will forever be judging and see our mere existence as a crime against humanity.

No matter what I do, who I fall in love with or who I date, I will ALWAYS be in an interracial relationship. I am of two races. And to feel like there is nothing I can do to stop the scorn and looks from people of all colors, well… I’ve been dealing with that and coming to terms with it. Thinking maybe soon it will slow or stop. But this commercial being taken down as if it were promoting slaughtering animals… it takes away what little hope I had.

Wait, hold on. Can somebody post an actual link to proof that they’re not using this commercial anymore? Because I’m looking it up online and the most recent news I’m finding is that they disabled the comments on YouTube (which is completely reasonable, as YouTubers are notoriously horrible with comments).

This video posted on FOX, THIS MORNING, has the newscaster saying “Cheerios says they stand by their commercial, they have no plans to drop it or stop running it.”

IS NOBODY ELSE LOOKING THIS UP before getting their panties in a twist?? C’mon, Tumblr.

P.S. Great commercial. <3

Sebastian Stan filming Captain America: The Winter Soldier

goodbye, world.

i am soviet’d.

YESSSSSSSSSSSS.

This costume. I need it.

Unrelated side note: The paparazzi PISS ME OFF. Production didn’t want pictures taken of the (no doubt closed) set. There is a person HOLDING A SIGN asking for pictures to not be taken. There were pictures taken anyway - which most of us would consider a violation of privacy if it were us - and posted all over the internet.

We apparently, as a society, think this is okay. All the time. I hate it.

Bad News by *alannahowe

“Mom… mom…. mom… I brought you your favorite coffee!! Mom… why do you look so sad? It’ll be okay!”

Aaaand now I’ve made myself sad.

Wow, this one really struck my fancy. Ivy’s not usually my favorite, but I love the style and her outfit and the mood and the touch of humor. :)

Here are some awesome and empowering quotes from several very strong female celebrities.

And Kristen Stewart.

No, you know what? Fuck you.

Let me tell you about Kristen Stewart.

Let’s talk about how she’s the centerpiece of one of the most inexplicably popular misogynistic pieces of film shit and somehow gets blamed for it sucking, despite the fact that, hey, the books were actually worse. For those who were lucky enough to escape reading the actual books, her apparent lack of emotion is 100% accurate to Bella’s character, because Bella is in fact not a character but a blank white wall for fourteen-year-old girls to project themselves onto. Robert Pattinson is not the only one in the cast who hates Twilight, thank you.

Let’s talk about how she got crucified in the media for having an affair with a married man, when that man was her director. And let’s remember that she was called all manner of things for “ruining her relationship with RPattz” when she wasn’t even engaged to the dude, let alone married with kids. But oh no, she gets called a slut because she’s Kristen Stewart, she gets her career fucked because she’s Kristen Stewart, and the dude gets off scott free.

Let’s talk about how she is incredibly shy and anxious (rather, incidentally, like Chris Evans) but does film anyway, because she’s just that awesome.

Fuck your noise. She’s not the best actor in the world but she sure as hell doesn’t deserve that kind of shit.

^thank you

This.

Angelina Jolie had a double mastectomy, in case you hadn’t heard. How dare she remove those ticking time bombs from her chest, amiright? Like, hasn’t she learned by now that her body is public domain and we all get to vote on what she does with it? Sheesh, how selfish can ya get.

Ohohohohohoho
