One Last Look.

Concerning any comments about the subject matter of this photo.. Just for the record…

First of all, let’s get this clear. I showed the girl in the picture the pics I took of her on my camera and she was cool with it.

 

As I started to take her picture, some other guy started taking a pic of her too and she noticed and she got upset. I showed her the 3 pics I took and explained to her, as I’m explaining to you guys, that I had a blog and quickly my rationale behind taking the pic. I try to take — whenever I can — pics of Real Life in the very UnReal setting of a comic book convention.. Not just the posed pics mostly associated with cosplay. This was real life. You can’t talk to the “real life” first and then take the pic. You loose the “real life” if you do that… It becomes posed. So. You take the pic, then afterwards you talk to the “real life”. If the “real life” isn’t happy, you delete the pic, apologize, and move on. Simple. Doesn’t happen hardly ever, at least not to me, but its not my call. If the ”real life” person doesn’t want the pic to exist, it’s gone. I would have deleted them right then and there if she had not.

 

As for this particular pic, just the sight of a girl’s bent-over covered backside isn’t actually a very good picture. Yawn. As I explained to her over a year ago, and I will again explain to you, I was taking a pic of the juxtapositions of the colorful outfit, the bright hair, the fact that a cosplay Girl is intently bent over looking at cheap comics in old brown boxes, and the funny look on the face of the Attitude Lady in the background who clearly owns the comics and isn’t too happy with cosplay girl for some reason. I had a Split Second or two to notice all that, make the call, take the pic, and hopefully get all that in the pic. Then explain it all to her…. Anybody who just sees a covered-up butt is clearly not looking at the entire picture.

 

Actually, I think its kind of a dull pic. And blurry. Only posted it one other time in a year and a half. That time it got 6 notes. This time, so far, it’s gotten 8. You guys must think its a rather dull pic, too….. Fine by me.

 

But seriously, I’d really like to thank clixlii for the “ew”.

I just want to reblog with a thank you, for handling this with so much respect for the cosplayer. There is more to this photograph than just the backside of her suit, and while capturing the moment made you unable to ask her for permission beforehand, it was gentlemanly of you to show her the pictures and speak to her afterwords. I know you’ve taken this kind of picture of another of my friends, and while my initial response was negative (we get the tacky side of this situation a lot!), your explanation of “capturing the details” made sense in context of your wonderful blog :) Thanks for keeping it classy - yes, even WITH butts!
